Portland International Airport transportation

PDX pet transportation planned around the flight, the airline, and the handoff.

Home-to-airport and airport-to-home pet taxi service with terminal or airline cargo-office coordination, parking, waiting time, carrier handling, and communication with the traveler or receiving contact.

First identify where the animal must actually go.

At PDX, an animal may be handed off in the terminal or at an airline cargo office. The airline—not Critter Car or the airport—determines the correct location, documentation, carrier rules, acceptance window, and whether the animal may travel.

Airport service

Transportation can cover one airport leg or the entire Portland ground plan.

Home to PDX

Pickup from a Portland-area home, hotel, boarding facility, veterinary office, or care provider with timed arrival at the airline-designated handoff.

PDX to home or care

Collection from the airline-designated terminal location or cargo office, followed by direct transportation to the confirmed destination.

Airport waiting and monitoring

Flight, cargo, baggage, traveler, paperwork, and parking delays are handled as billable waiting time when the driver must remain.

Boarding connection

Coordinate airport transport with Cats in the City boarding before departure or after arrival.

Veterinary connection

Connect PDX with a veterinary exam, health-certificate appointment, medication pickup, or post-flight assessment when separately arranged.

PDX operational information

Airport and airline rules shape the transportation plan.

Terminal access

PDX states that animals not traveling with their owner or being shipped by air are not allowed inside the terminal. Drivers follow airport and airline access rules for the specific handoff.

Pickup location

PDX directs people collecting an animal to call the airline in advance to learn whether pickup occurs in the terminal or at the airline’s cargo office.

Airline responsibility

Airlines set their own fees, documentation, carrier dimensions, health requirements, booking limits, weather restrictions, and acceptance procedures.

Critter Car provides ground transportation. We do not guarantee airline acceptance, cargo release, flight operation, entry into a destination, or regulatory approval. The guardian or shipper remains responsible for airline reservations, travel documents, permits, health certificates, vaccines, tests, destination requirements, and payment of airline charges.

Relief areas and comfort planning

Know what is available before the handoff.

Pre-security relief area

PDX identifies a pet relief area outside baggage claim at the south end of the terminal on the lower level. This is the area most relevant to a ground-transport handoff.

Post-security relief areas

PDX lists areas just past security for the B and C concourses near Stumptown Coffee and on Concourse D across from gate D5. Access requires the traveler to be beyond security.

Carrier continuity

Keep the animal secured throughout the ground leg and airport transition. Do not open a carrier in an unsecured parking, curb, terminal, or cargo-office environment.

Domestic and international planning

Start documentation work before scheduling the final airport ride.

For interstate travel, the destination state or territory sets its animal-health requirements. For international travel, the destination country sets entry requirements, and many trips require a health certificate issued by a USDA-accredited veterinarian and sometimes endorsed by USDA. Requirements and timing vary, and preparation may take weeks or months.

Work with the airline

Reserve the animal’s space directly and confirm every airline requirement in writing when possible.

Work with a veterinarian

Use a USDA-accredited veterinarian when international documents or endorsement may be required.

Send Critter Car the final plan
